Sparkling RSH

This is a link to Sparkling RSH (aka Sparkie) by First Encounter (Welsh) out of Stormy Creek (xx). She is a 5 year old Welsh/TB mare who is a wonderful hunter prospect and also cute enough to do a nice dressage test. She is 14.2 and has yet to be measured for a permanent card. She is safe and fun to ride and amateur friendly. I've taken her to an adult pony club camp where she was a star, beautifully behaved in open fields, in dressage and jumping and with lovely stall manners. She is sound and healthy, with no vices.

Azucena

Azucena is a 3 year old Oldenburg mare by Riverman out of Pikalo. She is in foal to Lordship, a black Holsteiner stallion who has produced over 18 premium foals. He ranked Number 2 in 1999 among young German Holsteiner Stallions as a producer of show jumpers, with phenomenal breeding index of 162!

Azucena is back under saddle and perfoming well after her premium colt, Lord-A-Leaping, has been weaned.

March Update: Azucena is back under saddle and in preparation for the 2007 Young Horse Challenge Cup. Pictured is Sylvana Smith mounted on Azucena on her first hack on the Quail Roost Farms. Suz enjoyed the outing tremendously, and was beautifully forward and attentive.

At Rougemont Sporthorses, we believe that to be a good specialist --a good dressage horse, jumping horse, or whatever-- the horse must first be a good horse: practical, versatile and workmanlike. On that principle, the young prospects get out on the trails as early as possible. Azucena enjoys a long hack in the hunt country, covering many miles and thousands of acres of open territory at a free walk and trot on a loose rein. This type of cross-country experience instills confidence, forwardness and rhythm with a minimum of direction from the rider.

Gazala RSH

Gazala is a Hanoverian filly by Graf Götz out of Tanzaerin. Graf Götz competed through Grand Prix dressage and was long listed with the USET in 1992 and 1993. Tanzaerin is an imported main mare book mare by Trapper who was regional champion at Third level dressage. Gazala is very personable filly - she comes up to you when you enter or pass by her stall. She has nice conformation, three correct gaits, and has been branded by the American Hanoverian Society.

Gazella has been so personable that Dr. Ziemer chose to start her under saddle herself at a Buck Brannaman clinic. The then-three-year-old filly handled herself with maturity in a hectic group of 10 colts working closely together. Gazella’s training is continuing in the Brannaman style, with an eye toward developing her as a dressage or event prospect. She is shown here with Sylvana Smith riding.

Gideon RSH

Gideon is a 2004 17.2 HH Oldenburg gelding out of Crow's Roost by Golfball. Great presence, three good gaits and natural uphill balance make Gideon an ideal prospect for a serious adult amateur. Gideon is easy to handle and work with. One of his best characteristics under saddle is that Gideon is exceptionally steady in the bridle. Gideon received a 66% his first time out at First Level on March 7 (see video clip below). The judge, Janine Malone, commented on how steady in the bridle this horse is. Gallahad RSH

Golfball x Solitaire (Spartacus) 15.3hh 2006 hanoverian gelding (to finish at 16hh+) With three excellent gaits and obvious talent over fences, Gallahad is a solid upper-level sporthorse prospect. Gallahad has been lightly started under saddle, and shows the rare combination of friendly personality, calm demeanor and physical talent that make him a great choice for the ambitious amateur or serious professional. Gallahad takes everything in stride and is not easily disturbed by loud noises or fast movements, so he should prove to be a focused competitor even in a high-atmosphere show setting. Gallahad's beginning work under saddle has proved him to be a lovely partner and willing participant in riding. He genuinely enjoys being ridden, and his lovely personality shines through under saddle. As Gallahad gains more training and showing experience his price will increase.
