Pikalo -/-/*

Pikalo is a 1996 Oldenburg mare out of Crow's Roost by Pikör. She produced 3 beautiful foals, including Cor Du Roi, owned by Betsy Freedman, and 2 premium fillies by Riverman, Azucena and Risky Business RSH.

Pikör was by the Grand Prix Oldenburg dressage stallion Pik Solo, out of the imported States Premium mare Freiheit. He stamped his offspring with his beautiful head, personality and world-class gaits, and produced over 80% premium foals. He competed through Intermediare I, and was trained and shown through Prix St. George by a former Young Rider. Crow's Roost is by Crow, out of Scattering by Ack Ack. She is a premium-producing mare, and is the foundation mare of Rougemont Sport Horses.

Pikalo passed her mare performance test as a four year-old, earning a total of 77.2 points, including an 8.5 on free jumping and an 8.5 on technique. She has had three high-quality foals, and is very fertile and easy to breed. Pikalo walks/trots/canters under saddle and has just started collection. Her training has been delayed due to her breeding career, but she is more than ready for a performance career. She has three good gaits, including a wonderful uphill canter. She has been shown in hand, in materiale classes, and at dressage shows at Training level. She has received very positive comments from judges and has received 8's on gaits. She loves to jump and has free jumped well over four feet.

Pikalo was injured in a pasture accident and is no longer my riding mare, but she is back in foal to Don Principe for a May 2010 foal. Don Principe is a 1999 dark bay Hanoverian stallion by the legendary Donnerhall. Don Principe competed successfully to Grand Prix dressage, with rider Jim Koford. We have high hopes for this foal, and expect that Pikalo with earn her third star award with the ISR/Oldenburg group this year.

Phantasia

Phantasia is a 17 hand gray Holsteiner mare by Riverman out of Windsong, by Weltstern. Bred by Maryanna Haymon and foaled May 28, 2000, Asia is a friendly, personable mare who loves attention. Asia is co-owned by Rougemont Sport Horses and Betsy Freedman, who has carefully and deliberately trained this lovely mare. Asia is a big girl with big gaits, and has required time and patience as she becomes confident and strong in her body. She has a great presence and draws eyes wherever she goes. We are looking forward to continuing her education with more schooling shows this Spring. She's going to be one of those great horses that are "worth waiting for". Shown left is Asia, with Eliza Syndor aboard.

Gisele

Gisele is a 2003 solid chestnut Oldenburg mare by Golfball out of Lakehouse Drive (xx). She is friendly and personable, but really shows her potential when she moves. She has three good gaits including a floating trot and powerful canter. She loves to jump and even as a youngster tucks her knees to her chin and shows great jumping form. Gisele should mature to 16.1 or 16.2. She has been well started under saddle and has lovely daisy cutting gaits and is an excellent hunter prospect. Giselle is booked to Rocko's Gold for 2007.

Flashback RSH

Flashback, born June 9, 2003, is the foal and had the birth that we will never forget, starting with a "red bag" delivery and culminating in the death of her dam, Wonderful, from a presumptive uterine artery rupture despite our heroic efforts to save her. A generous neighbor, Shirley Gaither, allowed Flashback to temporarily share milk from her kind and productive mare with another newly foaled warmblood colt. In about a week after birth, Flashback became a "bucket baby" and finally was adopted by Elation, a 25 year old barren mare with a strong maternal instinct and lactation induced by hormonal manipulation followed by domperidone treatment.

Flashback is out of Wonderful imported Hanoverian mare by Werther out of the States Premium mare Fernsicht by Ferdinand. Wonderful produced many foals successful in a variety of disciplines, including Fulmer Faktor, an advanced three day event horse.

Flashback is by Feinbrand, who is by Feiner Stern out of the States Premium mare Langune by Admiral I. Feinbrand, now back in Germany after a standing at stud 3 years in the United States, has an exceptional breeding index of 162 for dressage and 132 for jumping, and received a 10 for rideability and a 9.5 for trot at the 91 Bundeschampionat.

Flashback is light bay mare with 4 white stockings and a blaze, with a gentle and friendly disposition. Flashback should be an uncomplicated and talented sport horse, and has excellent Hanoverian bloodlines for breeding. Flashback is lightly started under saddle, and is an extraordinarily kind and fun horse to ride. Flashback is an excellent hunter prospect for the "A" shows.

Flashback foaled in 2008 and will go back under saddle in 2008.

Update on Flashback RSH: Flashback is off the market now, is in training for dressage and the Hanoverian Mare Performance test in 2010, and is shown here ridden by Arlene DeLong of Rougemont, NC.
